Striving as always to deliver unique experiences in its vehicles and elsewhere, Mazda officially launched the “Mazda Drives: The Sound Of Tomorrow” campaign today, the highlight of which is a special DJ contest.
“The Mazda Sound Of Tomorrow DJ Competition”, which may yield the next big acts in dance music, was announced during a press conference today at Mazda Space in Barcelona. Mazda also pledged its support for Tomorrowland 2016 as exclusive automotive partner for the second year running. Tomorrowland is one of the world’s largest music festivals.
Artists from across Europe wishing to enter the competition can upload their 15-30 minute mixes (tagged #MazdaSounds) to music streaming and social media platform Mixcloud between 25 March and 1 May (www.mixcloud.com/competitions/mazdasounds/). A shortlist of 50 entries will be made based on criteria including the number of plays, reposts and favourites as well as ability and creativity. The contest jury of representatives from Tomorrowland and Mazda along with star DJs like Belgium’s Lost Frequencies will then choose 20 finalists to attend the #MazdaSounds Live Showdown on 11 June at Mazda Space. The top six will each get a 60-minute slot at Tomorrowland 2016 on stage at the “Mazda Sound Of Tomorrow Island”.
Felix De Laet, a.k.a. Lost Frequencies, is the carmaker’s ambassador for the “Mazda Drives: The Sound Of Tomorrow” campaign. Known and respected as an innovator in the dance music scene, Lost Frequencies has had two major global hits in the past two years. In addition to evaluating the DJ contest entrants, he will also play a mentoring role with the finalists in June.
Besides an open-minded, visionary outlook, Mazda and Tomorrowland share a passion for constantly innovating to enhance people’s experiences with their automobiles and events, providing an ambience that embraces and enriches their lives. It applies to Mazda’s cars, which mix design and technology for an exciting and uplifting experience, as well as Mazda Space, conceived as a forum for positive change where those from different walks of life can connect. Tomorrowland, too, stands for a lifestyle and emotion that transcends the ordinary. Always looking for new meaning and inspiration, the festival initiated in 2005 has grown into the most significant music event worldwide (and the International Dance Music Awards’ best music event for the past four years). Dubbed “The Elixir of Life”, Tomorrowland 2016 takes place on 22-24 July in Boom, Belgium. Tickets for this year’s event sold out almost instantly.
