Mazda Motor Europe has named Philippe Geffroy Managing Director of Mazda Automobiles France, effective 5 September 2011. He replaces the interim team of Laurent Hamard and Olivier Toulouse who took over temporary management responsibility after Thierry Guillemot left the company. Mr. Toulouse will reassume his position as Finance Director, Mr. Hamard as Sales and Marketing Director in France.

Both men will now report to Mr. Geffroy, 56, who comes to Mazda with years of senior management experience in the automotive business. He was President of Ford Sweden, held director positions at Ford France, and was a vice president for Nissan in Europe and Mexico. Mr. Geffroy holds an MBA from the Institut Supérieur des Affaires, is fluent in English and speaks Spanish.

“France is an important market for us,” said José María Terol, Regional Director for South and West Europe, “and Philippe Geffroy takes over at an important time in the history of our company. A new generation of Mazda vehicles with environmentally-friendly SKYACTIV Technology is set for roll-out next year, starting with the Mazda CX-5 which will premiere this month in Frankfurt. We are confident that Philippe will leverage this all-new line-up and lead his organisation to new heights in France.”
